State of Dowry Deaths  Shuriah Niazi BETWEEN 2003 AND 2006, THE HIGHEST number of dowry deaths across the country were reported from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. While things may be looking up for brides across the country with national figures of dowry deaths registering a marginal decline, Madhya Pradesh accounts for around one-fourth of the total deaths.
